"The set designer, Kevin Depinet, has created a real dazzler of an environment — if you stare deep into the corners of his colossal Chicago streetscape, you can see a hubcap store, a furniture store, a meat market, "L" tracks, a stop for the No. 8 Halsted Street bus. And, of course, a cafe. It's one of Depinet's best settings and one of those slowly unspooling designs that is rich is nostalgic evocation, especially if you recall the original market."

The designer Kevin Depinet explodes perceptions of this space by putting the action on a discomforting, streetlike diagonal. One end seems to disappear into nowhere, as if Fleet Street were hacking its way through the world. The other seems to tease and taunt the famous Drury Lane chandeliers. It's a very striking image — part salon, part abattoir, part poor embittered Sweeney's shards of a heart
